AppSumo Plus: is the membership worth it? (2026)

Tracker data last verified 2026-09-11. LemDeals is an independent tracker, not the seller.

TL;DR

  • AppSumo Plus is a paid annual membership on AppSumo, not a product — its headline benefit is a member discount on deals plus early access to launches.
  • The median AppSumo listing we track costs $29.00, so a 10% member discount returns about $2.90 per purchase.
  • On those figures a membership priced near $99 a year needs roughly 35 purchases a year at the median price before the discount alone pays for it.
  • Check the current membership price and benefits on AppSumo itself before subscribing — we track deal prices, not membership terms.

What AppSumo Plus is

AppSumo Plus is AppSumo's paid annual membership. It is not a software product and it does not include any deals: it layers a member discount on top of the prices everyone else pays, adds early access to launches, and periodically bundles member-only extras. Whether it is worth paying for is arithmetic, and the arithmetic depends on one number nobody publishes clearly — what a typical AppSumo deal actually costs. We track that.

What the member discount is actually worth

Take the median price of the AppSumo listings we track and apply a 10% member discount to it. That is the per-purchase value of membership, before any early-access or bundle extras.

Purchases per year at the median priceSpend at list priceValue of a 10% member discount
1$29.00$2.90
2$58.00$5.80
3$87.00$8.70
5$145.00$14.50
10$290.00$29.00

The honest reading: a discount on deals only pays back if you buy deals regularly. For someone who buys one or two lifetime deals a year — which is most buyers — the discount alone does not cover an annual membership fee, and the case for joining rests on early access and the extras rather than on the percentage. For an agency or a serial buyer spending several hundred dollars a year on the platform, the maths turns the other way.

The part that matters more than the discount

Early access is the benefit that is hard to value and easy to overrate. Deals that sell out do exist, but 8 of the 25 listings we have tracked on AppSumo are no longer purchasable, and the ones that vanish are not reliably the ones you wanted. Buying earlier also means buying with less public feedback about the tool. If your reason for joining is fear of missing out, our measured AppSumo trust assessment and the AppSumo buying checklist are more useful than a faster checkout.

Before you subscribe

Three checks. First, count what you spent on lifetime deals last year — if it is below the membership fee times ten, the discount cannot pay for itself. Second, confirm the refund window on the membership itself, which is separate from the 60-day window on deals. Third, compare against simply not subscribing: the same deals are available to everyone at list price, and our cost-of-ownership pages will tell you whether the deal was worth buying at all.
